Lifeboats at St Justinians, and Whitesands beach with Carn Llidi - Pembrokeshire, UK

Here are two plein air paintings from the weekend. The first is of the lifeboat station at St Justinians. There is now a brand new lifeboat (pictured, moored further out) and thus the old lifeboat station is soon to be decommissioned. There are rumours that it is to be removed, and possibly rebuilt somewhere else. I think that it may even be a listed building. Whether or not it is to be removed, there are plans to build a new structure to house the replacement lifeboat, somewhere to the left of the painting's viewpoint. Therefore, I was really keen to paint the scene as it currently appears!
On the painting's horizon sits Ramsey Island/Ynys Dewi. I've painted it in differing moods and from much further away a number of times, but I've never actually painted it in it's entirety, nor from this close.

The second painting is just around the corner from the lifeboat house, and shows the view towards Whitesands beach. It's a great little surf spot that gets popular during the Summer months. Carn Llidi, somewhat set back, and above the beach, also appears in a lot of my paintings, but this is a new angle for me.
The painting is much quicker and looser than the one of St Justinians, which I made on location over two consecutive days, the weather having taken a turn for the worst on my first day!
