Recent Sketches From Pembrokeshire And Beyond

Here are three recent watercolour sketches. The first is of the sun going down over Carn Llidi in North Pembrokeshire.  It's the first time that I've ever painted the sun, and because it was behind the cloud, it was just about safe enough to look at.

The next is looking South across the Cleddau River from Milford Haven. Like most of my work, it was painted on location. Unlike most of my work, it was interrupted by the Police who came to see what I was doing!

The final sketch is a study of Usk bridge. Thankfully I was not disturbed while painting this.

I like the format of these, good choice with size of the pages. I recognize the stacks of the power plant in the milford haven picture, nice colours too. Having police look over your shoulder must have been a little intimidating, I always feel vaguely guilty around police, haha.

I like the landscape with the sun, it has an otherworldly feel about it, cool stuff :)

Thanks Heather! I've just been using a small Arches watercolour block, it's great to travel around with, and I quite like painting in this format and size.

I thought that you might recognise the Milford one. It certainly was off-putting, and I quite concur with the feelings of guilt, no matter how unfounded!

Yeah, the sun one was weird; it was bright when I started, then that could came down and changed the whole mood of the place.

Massive thanks for the feedback, and I apologise if I ever miss any as I don't find blogger that easy, I tend to update my FB page with more stuff, and more frequently too > https://www.facebook.com/PaintingsByThomasHaskett

Hope you're well and enjoying the weather! :)
